White-faced saki
Pithecia pithecia
Male white-faced sakis have black fur and a completely white face, while the females are grey and have just a small, pale moustache. Sakis are monogamous, but pairs live in family groups consisting of several individuals. Sakis communicate by means of coughing sounds. Their threatening gestures include puffing out the chest and shaking branches. The female gives birth to single offspring, which it takes care of almost on its own. However, the male may groom the young saki and play with it.
