Viperine snake
Natrix maura
In spite of its name, the viperine snake is not part of the viper family. While it resembles the common European viper in its appearance and behaviour, it is actually a close relative of the grass snake. It attacks its enemies like the common European viper, but its bite is nonvenomous. Much like the grass snake found in the wild in Finland, the viperine snake is a skilled swimmer.
