Patagonian conure
Cyanoliseus patagonus
The Patagonian conure is a tough species whose territory is taken over by frost and snow at times. Living in colonies, the birds dig their nest holes right next to each other along sandy riverbanks. Patagonian conures have been hunted because of their harmful effects on agriculture, and populations have decreased. However, environmental education has managed to create a positive shift in attitudes toward parrots. Patagonian conures raised by humans may learn to talk.
