Markhor-lauma kallioilla

Markhor

Capra falconeri heptneri

The markhor originates from the slopes of the Himalayas in Central Asia. They live in herds and are preyed on by snow leopards.

Adorned with large corkscrewing horns and handsome beards, the bucks take over the harem during the mating season in the autumn. At other times, the males tend to keep to themselves. In the spring, the females give birth to 1–3 nimble-footed kids.
