Karoo round-eared sengi

Macroscelides proboscideus

Sengis or elephant-shrews live in pairs in their respective territories. The male and the female, however, like to spend time individually on their own. They move along a path network crisscrossing their territory and keep the paths leading to protective shelters tidy. The paths make for a quick escape from predators.
