Desert locust
Schistocerca gregaria
When the desert locust population grows and their nutrition becomes more scarce, the locusts migrate in enormous swarms elsewhere, eating all vegetation in their way. A swarm may comprise billions of locusts. The problem in combating locusts is that pesticides eventually end up in the bodies of the birds eating them.
