Crested partridge
Rollulus rouloul
The crested partridge originates from the forests of Southeast Asia, where this game bird typically moves along the ground under the cover of the undergrowth. The male crested partridge can be recognized by its red crest, which the green female does not have. Crested partridges usually move about on the ground and are not good flyers. Their nest is a structure of leaves and branches slapped together which they approach via a narrow, tunnel-like passage. The parents feed their chicks for a week straight into the beak.
