Crested gecko
Correlophus ciliatus
The crested gecko was thought to be extinct in nature until it was rediscovered in New Caledonia in 1994. The species prefers to inhabit the trees and is nocturnal. It comes in many colours, including yellow, green and brown. Despite conservation efforts, the future of the crested gecko is threatened by e.g. invasive species introduced to the island nation.
