Royal python
Python regius
The royal python is a relatively small constrictor snake that is popular as a pet. It is active at night and spends its days in burrows or under rocks. When threatened, the royal python coils into a tight ball, with its head tucked away in the middle. For this reason, this species is also known as the ball python.
