Korkeasaari Zoo as a Field Trip Destination
In Finland’s largest zoo, early childhood education groups can spend an unforgettable day full of experiences and new discoveries. Korkeasaari Zoo is home to animals from nearly every part of the world. A trip to the zoo can also serve as a wonderful extension for other nature education topics explored with children.
Korkeasaari Zoo’s unique environment sparks children’s curiosity and helps them understand the importance of biodiversity and animal conservation. In addition, Korkeasaari Zoo offers guided tours for an additional fee, specifically tailored for preschool and daycare groups.
We recommend setting aside at least a few hours for your visit to see the animals and enjoy a relaxed picnic break. Korkeasaari provides safe paths, clear signage, and several playgrounds where little explorers can burn off energy. The zoo is easily accessible with strollers, and the restroom facilities include baby changing areas.
Korkeasaari aims to support children’s environmental education and inspire their interest in nature conservation. Free admission for pre-registered groups makes it possible for daycare centers to organize trips to the zoo without financial barriers. The zoo is operated by a non-profit foundation and participates in both national and international environmental education networks.
