Arriving to the zoo

Korkeasaari Zoo is located on an island close to the Helsinki city center. A bridge connects us to the mainland, so you can visit the Zoo all year round. NOTE! Arrival to the zoo will change starting from August 7, 2025. Instead of Mustikkamaa, the access to the zoo is from Nihti via Finkensilta bridge. The address of the temporary ticket office is Nihdinranta 1.

By tram no. 13 from Pasila

The closest tram stops to Korkeasaari are called Nihti and Sompasaari. You can also hop on the tram from Kalasatama at the Redi shopping centre, for example.

By bus no. 16 from Helsinki centre

The bus stops nearest to the Korkeasaari Zoo are in the A zone of the Helsinki Regional Transport Authority (HSL). Bus number 16 takes passengers from the Helsinki Railway Square to Mustikkamaa. The bus leaves from the Railway Square next to the railway station and departs three times per hour. The estimated travel time is 20 minutes.

Metro via Kalasatama

There is about a kilometre’s walk from the metro stop at Kalasatama to the Korkeasaari ticket booth. The Kalasatama metro stop is situated in the Redi shopping centre.

By ferry from the Market Square

The ferry operates from the Market Square on a daily basis to the end of August, and on weekends in May and September. The ferry does not run between October and April. The travel time is about 20 minutes. Starting August 4, 2025, when arriving by ferry from the Market Square, the admission tickets to Korkeasaari Zoo must be purchased before boarding. Tickets are available from JT-Line’s online store and at the ticket sales point at Market Square.
